This is part of the grateful series.
I’m grateful I have the ability to hear.
I think of all the sounds I process in a day and find it hard to imagine what life would be like with that dimension removed.
I can wake up to the loud beeps of a truck and the clings and clangs of metal. I can hear the creaks of hardwood as I step down from my bed.
The sound of my Nani’s laugh.
The sound of a hot coffee brewing.
The sound of the microwave door being slammed shut.
The sound of a basketball bouncing.
The sound of metal plates clinging together.
The sound of glass shattering.
I remind myself that no sounds are inherently positive or negative, good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant. To be able to experience sound is more than enough to feel grateful for.
