This is part of the grateful series.
I’m grateful I can sleep in peace.
A good night’s rest is one of those things in particular that’s hard to appreciate while it’s happening. I mean, I don’t think it’d be a good sleep if you could consciously be grateful for the sleep you were having (ie., you aren’t sleeping).
On the contrary, during a restlessness night of tossing and turning it’s readily apparent how great an effortless, deep sleep is.
When you wake up from a nightmare or in pain, it’s even clearer.
A corollary to this insight is that it’s in my best interest to ensure I have a good night’s sleep. Recently, I had a cup of coffee too late in the day, and it interfered with my normal sleeping patterns.
Action: Caffeine at most twice a week, before 2PM.
